I keep forgetting to make an introduction thread, but better late than never I guess.
I'm Io, Swedish, female and 35 yo. Got a dog and 2 cats IRL. I was a bit worried I'd be the only one in my age group, but after visiting a good number of the equestrian sites I found out that luckily I'm not. ;D A mix of ages is usually the best for a community, but just one odd person out might feel a bit strange.
Love all sorts of games, from old fashioned board games like Monopoly to Sims and MMOs. Sims in particular I've played since release of TS1.
I played TS3 for a couple of months when the base game was new and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. The puddings in official screen shots made me not wanting anything to do with it at all at first, but once I tried it I thought it was great. I decided to stick with TS2 still though, as I was so invested in my neighbourhoods.
Always thought I'd get back to TS3 around the time a pets related EP was released, and I did. Started playing again late last fall, and recently installed WA and HELS. It wasn't that long ago I fully realized just how awesomesauce the TS3 horses are, I had expected them to be more like vehicles/objects sort of. As I've always been interested in breeding and showing both game-wise and irl, discovering the equestrian community felt like winning the lottery in a way. In TS2 I used to have a story about a cat breeding organisation and all the drama between the breeders and showers. ;D
The stable was my second home all through my teen years (first started riding as an 8 yo), but I quit when my favourite horse (Swedish Warmblood gelding) retired. Getting my own horse at some point in life has always been my plan, but not anytime soon.
As I have yet to even install Pets, I am currently working on building stable and farm lots to work out a rough layout I might be able to use, and I'm trying my hand at creating my own world as well. I feel like I want to take my time planning and setting things up before I start. Got a site up already, as I thought it'd be fun to have it reflect my equestrian experiences right from the beginning.
I know most of the breeds I'd like to have I think, but on what scale the breeding program for each will be I'm gonna leave open until I have familiarized myself with them all. But there will definitely be Swedish Warmbloods, some type of arabian or arabian cross, lippizaner, clydesdale, gypsy vanner and either knabstrup or appaloosa. I tried the Create- A -Pet demo but had problems with it and couldn't finish my project, so when I have the full EP I'll see if I can make a decent North Swede as that is my favourite breed.
I'm likely to stick to my gaming style of using Awesomemod with story progression turned off and TS2 aging on, and play the whole neighbourhood. Gonna try to keep it rural and small scale and keep city life to other worlds.
